Quick Answer: How Much Does It Cost to Get Your Teeth Fixed?
The cost of a full mouth reconstruction varies based on the scope of the procedure. Getting your teeth done may involve dental implants ($2,000-$4,000 per tooth, on average), crowns (averaging $600-$1,000 each), fillings (about $150-$350 per tooth) or TMJ Treatment, which can cost $2,000-$3,000 or more. It’s best to consult your dentist to understand the treatment and pricing for your teeth reconstruction.
Severe oral problems may require a complete reconstruction of your mouth, which could mean paying much more than a simple tooth extraction cost. This drastic measure could mean separate things for different patient’s mouths, depending on the exact problems that need to be corrected, which also means the cost can vary drastically from patient to patient. Though the price of treatment may sound daunting, you can often find a dental plan that will make the procedures less of a strain on your wallet.
What Types of Procedures Are Used for Full Mouth Reconstruction? How Much Do They Cost?
Full mouth reconstruction often involves a combination of both cosmetic dentistry and restorative procedures like:
- Dental Implants
- Bridges
- Crowns
- Tooth Fillings
- TMJ Treatment
Each procedure varies in cost and process:
- Implants require two surgeries to permanently replace individual teeth. In the first surgery, the dentist makes gum incisions and drills titanium rods into your jawbone where you are missing teeth. Any openings are sealed with stitches, and often a temporary bridge or denture is placed over the gaps. After several months, your bone will fuse with the metal rods, and then your dentist can attach prosthetic teeth. The implant process typically costs anywhere from $2,000-$4,000 per tooth without a discount plan. The cost of full mouth dental implants will be pricey but there are alternative options, listed below.
- Bridges replace missing teeth by attaching crowns to the teeth on either side of the gap, connected by a false tooth in the center. Bridges can be made from ceramic, metal or plastic.
- Crowns attach to damaged teeth to restore their shape and protect them from further harm. Parts of your original tooth may be removed to better accommodate the crown. The most common varieties are made of ceramic, metal or a mixture of the two. Some people find that they get a better discount with the inexpensive metal version. Crowns often cost $600-$1,000 each.
- Fillings protect your pearly whites that have cavities from further damage. After a dentist removes the cavity, the empty space is filled with either a composite or a metal amalgam component. Fillings usually cost about $150-$350 per tooth.
- TMJ Treatment addresses any joint problems connecting your upper and lower jaw. Mouth guards, jaw exercises and bite therapy, when combined with other treatments and possible jaw surgery, can help cure this problem. TMJ treatment can cost $2,000-$3,000 or more.
Causes
Full Mouth Reconstruction is the process of restoring or rebuilding all or most of the teeth on both the upper and lower jaws. Some people opt for this simply for cosmetic purposes, but often its necessity stems from a true medical problem, such as:
- Persistent jaw, muscle and headache pain caused by an irregular bite
- Teeth severely worn down by long-term tooth grinding or acid erosion
- Injured or fractured teeth
- Missing teeth due to trauma or decay
In these situations, you should get a comprehensive exam to determine the extent of the damage and the discount treatment options that are available to you.
Consult a dentist to learn your options concerning what is best for you and your mouth. If you’re worried about the cost, a dental savings plan could take away some stress and help you move toward a healthy, beautiful smile.

I have talked to several people and everyone has told me to go to Mexico seeing as that we live in the south part of Texas… I have no insurance or anything like that and I can’t really find how much a full mouth of implants would cost over there… I appreciate the feedback thank you –Kelsey

okay , i am 16 and my teeth suck , i have 10 cavaties and 2 teeth that possibly need a root canal , one of the teeth that need a rooth canal is completly dead from the root so they might pull it out , theres is alot of decay all over the mouth , the decay is so deep that theres is barely any “teeth” on my left side , my front 2 teeth or cruked and i have a really bad cross bite , i have come to the conclution since my parents neglated my teeth for so long to actually get implants for my whole mouth , i want to start fresh , no decay , no cruked teeth and no braces , how much would it be for my whole mouth to get implants ?
Hi Silvana, you would have to talk to your dentist about the price for implants. All dentists set their own prices for procedures, and therefore the cost varies between dentists. The price will also be affected if you go to a specialist (prosthodontist) as opposed to a general dentist, as specialists typically charge more for better quality. The good news is, however, that with the Careington Care 500 plan, you can receive a 20% discount at either a general dentist OR a specialist. Give us a call at 1-800-372-7615 to speak with a live representative to find out more about the plan.
Kayla did you not read this girl is 16? so you got good news for her she can get a 20% discount.. WOW your a piece of work.. Silvana chjeck with your local health department they have dental clinics that do dental work for children under 18 at free or very reduced prices..There also dental clinics you would have to do some research to find them. Start with your local health department…Good luck
It is a long story but I will try to stick to the issue at hand .I was in two life threatening MVAs’ 10 years apart.Apparently due to the medications required to save my lifeand various limbs it had an effect on my teeth. I had no cavities and it did not begin until years later, when due to the nature of the injuries I started having severe back pain.I had started to have problemssuch as,my teeth abcessing at the roots.(Istill had no cavities ) I proceeded to have root canals, but the infection just moved on to the teeth next to the one that had been worked on.The only recourse was to extract perfectly good teeth to stop the spreading infection.I cannot even begin to tell you the toll it tok on my life and self esteem.I had to go back on fairley strong doses of pain medication due to the worsening issues with my back.I was a social worker in hospitals and sub-acute centers so I was always in the public eye,I was no longer able to laugh,I was so ashamed of the missing teeth.I was told approximately 3 years ago that all these chemicals I had taken in the past and no longer had a choice to remain on these meds killed the dentin in the teeth, consequently I have had 6 teeth crumble and break off at the gum line. That is within the past year !I had to go on disability due to my previous injuries.I no longer go out in public I am so embaressed I feel lost I cannot afford implants and since I am on disability there is no coverage available to me.I do not know what to do or where to turn ! I have gone as far as to call a few of the dental services that do everything in one day and do a commercial for them ,before and after sort of thing obviously they showed no interest or compassion for that matter.Just to make my life more interesting I was diagnosed with sudden death syndrome, now it is not a matter of just cosmetics,I am frightened about the cardiac implications.I have tried the health dept. to see if I could recieve any help but that did not do me any good.I am desperate at this point,do you or anyone in your group have any suggestions ? I will do whatever I have to do at this point !I just want what is left of my teeth and the ones that have broken off to be extracted and get dentures so I might have some quality of life back.I am sorry for writing a short story, just needed to get in some basic facts.I have even thought about writing to the program” The Doctors “.humiliating myself nationally is not my first choice but I am very tired of isolating myself.I don’t know if you have any answers for me,but I would appreciate greatly any help or suggestions you can give me.Thank you for your time and consideration.Sandra Vento
Hi Sandra, I am so sorry to here about all your health complications. Fortunately, despite being on disability, you can still be part of a discount dental plan which will save you hundreds (or thousands, depending on what you get done) of dollars on extractions and dentures. The typical fees for these procedures are listed in this post, and you can find out what the discounted price is for your area by entering your zip code at https://www.1dental.com/dentists/ and then looking up the procedures. We have three different plans available, but the one that would provide you the highest discounts is the Careington Care 500 plan. Feel free to look around the website at the fee schedule and the dentists in your area, and give us a call at 1-800-372-7615 if you have any questions.
HI THERE.. I have (lupus) & all my teeth are breaking and are discolored to the point that I dont smile anymore I feel embarrassed & sad I dont feel myself. I need a whole mouth restoration or make-over I dont really know the difference, but I would like to know more.. & also I don’t have insurance! what can I do how can I get help? this is depressing!
I’m so sorry to hear that! It’s difficult to feel good when your teeth are giving you so much trouble, along with everything else you’re going through. Fortunately, we do have a plan that can help you get discounts on all minor and major dental work. What you are needing would be major dental work, but this affordable plan still offers great savings! Please call our office at 636-349-0401 and one of our representatives will be able to help you understand the procedure costs and savings.
I have had a lot of dental work in my time; I even had braces for 5 years, the rubber bands and headgear, oral surgey and root canals. Long story short, after I had my 1st child, my teeth began to shift. Then, shortly after that, I went to my dentist who informed me that no matter what I do, I have naturally rotting teeth. So about 5-6 years ago my daughter was getting married, I didn’t like smiling anymore!!! And I loved to smile..but not anymore. I had All of my upper teeth pulled out and now I have a full denture up top. I hate it!! Plus now my lower teeth are rotting away!! I lost my health and dental insurance about 2 years ago (because my husband is in prison) so now I have nothing. Is there anyway you can help me PLEASE!!!
Hi, Margaret. I’m very sorry to hear about all of the trouble you have been through with your dental care, and losing your health and dental insurance on top of that. I will tell you that we offer discount dental plans that help cut down the cost of dental care. We have a large network of providers. If you call into our office at 1-800-372-7615, one of our representatives will be able to talk with you and tell you about our plan. You can also see our different discount dental plans on our website at https://www.1dental.com/. While we don’t sell health insurance, we do have some options that may help you. We sell a service called Teledoc. This allows you to call into a doctor and describe your symptoms without having to go to a doctor’s office. I used this service a few months ago when I had severe allergies and needed something to help. You may have to go into an office if the problem is more serious, but this plan could be helpful for you. If you have symptoms that can be easily diagnosed over the phone, the doctor on the other end will be able to write you a note for medicine on the spot and you can go pick it up at a local store near you.
I still wonder how much it cost to get a full set of implants . I know it’s different for each mouth, just wondering the cost
If you visit our website, enter your zip code and go to the Prosthodontics – Fixed section, it will give you the typical price for each kind of implant, along with what you would save if you had one of our discount dental plans. I hope that was helpful for you!
This is great information. I will be waiting for your next post having some more useful stuff. Thanks.
I’ve been on disability for a while now with liver disease, and I know some day I will die from my illness, but one thing I was not counting on was my teeth rotting away. I would love to get some help, but a lot of insurance groups will not help if you don’t have good credit to get on plans to pay back. I just wish that I could find someone to help it is just myself, no husband or children, just me.
We’re so sorry for what you’re going through. Our discount dental plans can be purchased annually or by month, whichever is easiest for you financially. By purchasing the plan, you would then be able to gain significant savings at the dentists in our network, where you would pay the discounted price at the time of your visit to the dentist. Depending on the dentist you see, they may be able to work out a payment schedule for you if that would help. Please feel free to give us a call at 800-372-7615 if you would like further explanation or have more questions! We hope this can be a help to you to cut down on dental costs so you can get the dental treatment you need.
Thank you for educating the public on dental health
